Food and Eastern Restaurants Ordering in an Eastern Restaurant
If you go to a real Eastern Restaurant, always order for fewer people than you have - you can always order more!
Our Recommendations:
Tabule (pronounced 'ta-boo-lee') is an Israeli salad that is made chiefly of parsley with lemon and cracked wheat, sometimes with a little mint, tomato and cucumber.
Hummus is a lovely spread of crushed chick peas, made fresh daily in these restaurants.
Hummus with 'Ful'. Ful is a type of cooked bean - delicious!
Kebab is a bit like meat balls, mixed with parsley.
Sahleb is a sweet firm jelly made from the root of a plant - order it with or without rose water at the Allenby Restaurant in Haifa and in other places.
Meshausha is a very tasty mix of chick pea beans, garlic, lemon and tehina (a sesame paste).
Mahluta is the same as Meshausha with the addition of ful beans.
