Transportation and driving

How will I get around?

The public transportation system in Israel is very good. Trains run along the coastal plain of Israel and into Jerusalem, but do not cover the centre of the country. Buses are generally a bit cheaper but are slower and more uncomfortable than the train. Within cities and even between certain cities, the sherut (shared taxi) is a good form of transport; these carry a maximum of ten passengers and have never suffered bomb attacks.

However, if you are able, we would recommend hiring a vehicle during your visit in Israel. This will give you much more flexibility. Getting to locations inside the country can be done by public transport but may not be very easy for someone who doesn't know their way around. Having a rented vehicle gives the flexibility of reaching several destinations in one day and removes the complication of always finding your way to public transportation stations and waiting for transportation. Driving in Israel is on the right hand side of the road - watch out, Israelis drive like maniacs!

Is Psalm 69 Messianic?

Psalm 69 is quoted in the New Testament as speaking of the Messiah, yet there is confession of failure in the Psalm. How can this be? Do we take this Psalm to be Messianic or simply about King David?
