An Exposition of the Fifty-Third Chapter of Isaiah

By Rev. Moses Margoliouth, a 19th century Jewish believer in Jesus.

Rev. Margoliouth's lectures were delivered in the Parish Church of Glasnevin, during the Sundays of Lent, 1845. The author had no intention of submitting them to the criticism of the public at large. His object was simply to instruct his own congregation, according as the Lord enabled him, from that wonderful chapter the FIFTY-THIRD of ISAIAH.

Margoliouth's exposition is scholarly and technical, taking many sources into account from the Hebrew, ancient Jewish writings (including Aramaic writings), Greek, Latin and several English translations preceding the King James version. In true 19th century style, Margoliouth eagerly defends the truth of scriptures from attacks of liberals and of objecting Jewish expositors, such as Rabbi Izhak and others. He definitely helped me with reasonable answers from scriptures to some objections I received myself.

Is Psalm 69 Messianic?

Psalm 69 is quoted in the New Testament as speaking of the Messiah, yet there is confession of failure in the Psalm. How can this be? Do we take this Psalm to be Messianic or simply about King David?
