Back in the late 1980s, Miriam Givoni recorded 'Yeshua Ohev Gam Oti' (Yeshua Loves Me Too), a beautiful cassette for children, enjoyed by many parents and children in the body of Messiah. And now, 20 years later, Miriam has invested her talents in her second CD 'Oto Yeshua' - This Same Yeshua. The result is sure to satisfy many a family in Israel!

The lyrics, the most important part of any CD, are excellent! Many of the songs are direct Scripture quotations from both Old and New Testaments. The words are doctrinally sound and present gospel truths: that Yeshua, the Son of God, came in the flesh to die on the cross for sinners and rose again on the third day; that through Him you can find forgiveness of sins and eternal life; that He is preparing a home for us in heaven and will come back to reign over Israel and the whole earth. The songs truly give honour and praise to our Lord Jesus and they faithfully present His deity as well as His humanity.

The tunes and arrangements are surprisingly good! They sound so local, so Israeli - the music sounds like it belongs to us here in Israel. Wow, when you hear that buzuki opening the first song 'Yeled Yulad Lanu - Emanuel' (Standfield), it straight away gives the CD a Mediterranean touch, almost Mizrachi! Not to mention the accordion, the recorder and flute, the melodica, the xylophon (!), the violins and of course - the piano and the drums - almost all of them real instruments played by professional musicians and blending so beautifully to form one of the most enjoyable CDs to come from Israel! Oh, and I forgot to mention the electric guitar on one song, which is not exactly 'light music'... But that shouldn't prevent conservatives like me from purchasing the CD for the rest of the songs, and some might even like it all the more.

As for vocals, Miriam Givoni used many different voices on This Same Yeshua, both children and adults, some of whom are new and undiscovered. It's simply a joy to listen to, and some of these voices are so beautiful that when I listen to them, it almost melts my heart in tears!

I strongly recommend This Same Yeshua. It's beatiful, it's Israeli, it's Messianic; it's just good! Some of these songs have already become hits among the children and even among adults in the congregations, like 'Ein Bor Amok'. You will play this CD over and over again - and don't worry, your children will too... song translations & transliterations included in a beautiful colourful booklet.
